Our Story
From the desk of Fenton Groen
I had the distinct privilege to establish Groen Construction in 2000 with my sons, David and Joseph. My brother Warren joined us in 2002. Our mission was to honor God by operating with integrity and honesty and respect, always striving to meet our customers’ needs with creativity, quality and value. To effectively do this, we sought to create a nurturing and family friendly work environment for our employees, and to build enduring, mutually beneficial relationships with our suppliers and subcontractors.
My life verse from the Bible describes the Groen family commitment to these ideals and practices. “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Colossians 3:23
From our roots as a single-family custom home and residential remodeling contractor, we expanded into commercial construction. In 2021 we made the decision to focus entirely on commercial construction.
Groen is now a respected source for commercial, manufacturing, and multi-family residential projects ranging from two to fifteen million dollars. We also support the office, retail and medical communities with tenant fit-ups, renovations, and tenant improvements.
Through this process we have retained our family-oriented company culture and our commitment to honor God with our practices and our product. We believe that requires that we operate with integrity in all our business
practices, that we treat customers, employees and business partners with respect and honesty and that we provide excellent value in all we do.

View Our History
1989

In Rochester, Fenton Groen’s keen eye spotted the vacant, beautiful and historic Springfield family home, slated for demolition to make way for condos. Driven by a vision to save it and provide a home for his growing family, Fenton orchestrated an incredible feat: moving the house and barn to a new lot ½ a mile down the road, with the help of building movers, Clayton Copps & Sons. This monumental project laid the groundwork for Groen’s future, demonstrating an ingenuity and work ethic that would come to define Groen Builders. It was a true community spectacle, complete with food vendors, and forged early relationships with contractors that Groen still partners with today.
